What is the Studio Drinan?
The Studio Drinan is an affordable digital maker space for music recordings, podcasts, videos, digital stories, and oral histories. At the centre of this space is a recording booth providing access to a variety of audio and video recording equipment and software. It offers a resource to businesses, community groups, creatives, and individuals to develop media product, promote a business /cause, inform on their work or passion, and enjoy the creative processes of digital creation.

Equipment
The mix of equipment includes the following:

4 channel RODECASTER Pro II with powerful features for podcasting, livestreaming and music production includes 2 USB interfaces with 3 available audio devices and options for mix-minus, sub-mixes, and multitrack recording.
Cinema Camera 4K + tripod
LED lighting
Green screen
iMac computer iMac with Retina 5K display.
Software included – DaVinci Resolve video editing software, Wirecast Studio & Pro, GarageBand, Audacity.
Studio Use
A booking of a recording booth may be made by individuals 18 years and older. Any person wishing to make a booking must have completed the mandatory induction session in advance and signed an Agreement Form.
The minimum session length is 50 minutes; the maximum two hours and 50 minutes.
Please take note also - while basic assistance may be provided, the studios are essentially self-service.
Induction Session
Attendance at an induction session is required in advance of a first booking. The session provides an overview of the recording studio equipment and usage procedures.
The session will cover:
Terms and Conditions.
The booking processes.
Check-in and check-out procedure.
How to access, and power on and off the recording studio.
Proper handling of equipment.
How to setup up a basic recording session and get started.
How to save your recording.
Upon completion of the session participants will be required to sign the agreement form to be added to the list of those authorised to make a booking on behalf of themselves or a group. The induction session will last approximately 20 minutes.
Terms & Conditions
A booking of the Studio and the recording booth may be made by persons aged 18 years and older.
Photographic identification, in the form of a Driving Licence, Passport, Student Card, Staff ID Card (issued by an employer) or PPSN Card is required to make and take up a booking.
Any person wishing to make a booking must attend a ten-minute information session in advance of first using the Studio and have signed the Agreement Form.
A booking may be made in person, by email or by phone.
The individual who made the booking and signed the Agreement Form must be present for the full duration of the session.
The maximum allowed in the studio booth is 5 persons.
The booth will have for safety and security purposes a CCTV Camera (without audio), a panic button for emergency, and a flashing warning light in case of a Fire Alarm. It is a condition of usage that all users accept the presence of this equipment for Health, Safety and Security purposes.
While basic assistance may be provided, the studios are essentially self-service.
Every booking must lodge a refundable deposit of €50. The recording studios require the use of equipment like microphones, an audio interface, video camera and computers with audio and video software. The patron making the booking is responsible for this equipment during their allotted time slot. The cost of repair or replacement of damaged equipment will be passed on to the booking party.
Any equipment faults must be reported, in person or by email to a Drinan Enterprise Centre staff before the end of your session.
The Creative Studio computers are restricted to allowed applications. No other applications may be used.
It is not permitted to connect your own computer to the Studio equipment.
Bookings can be made up to four weeks in advance. Bookings can only be made on a Monday to Friday (Public Holidays excluded) . With prior agreement and on payment to an agreed “out of hours “fee to cover staff attendance time, bookings can be facilitated on weekends and public holidays. Any such request must be made to Centre Staff and charges and conditions of such bookings will be decided by Centre Staff.
Sessions can be of the following duration: 50 minutes, 1 hours 20 minutes, 1 hour 50 minutes, 2 hours 20 minutes, 2 hours 50 minutes. All sessions shall begin on the hour or half hour. Booking session times are from 9.30am to 4.30pm. The Studio must be vacated by 5pm each day. Bookings can be made online through an online calendar and the application form must be completed. The deposit must be lodged at time of booking.
Bookings can be cancelled but this must be done no later than 12 hours before the booking is due to commence. Failure to cancel within this period will result in the loss of the deposit.
You must have vacated the booth by the end of the session. This is to allow time for staff to prepare the booth for the next session.
A session may be extended at the discretion of staff if time is available.
The person who has made the booking must present and sign in within 10 minutes of the start of their session.
A staff member will accompany you to the studio and confirm with you that equipment is working.
When leaving, you will need to sign out. Staff will require you to accompany them back to the booth to confirm everything is working and in situ before you leave.
Failure to present will result in the booking being cancelled, loss of deposit and the time slot being made available to other patrons.
You must save your recording to your USB stick or cloud storage before powering down the computer, as all data will be wiped from the computer when it is powered down.
It is important to allow sufficient time to transfer your recording to your USB stick or cloud storage and exit the computer. Large files may require significant time to transfer.
The Centre does not provide USB storage devices; please bring your own. The Centre may have for sale USB sticks in the event that you have forgotten to bring your own.
You must bring your own musical instruments and instrument cables.
No food or drink allowed inside the studio booth.
Enterprise Centre staff reserve the right to enter the studio at any time.
